Objective : |
To create international city “Sapporo”, JCI Sapporo widely spread the importance of developing global human resources.
To create the city contributes to the world through contacting and cooperating, JCI Sapporo inspire the citizens to make positive change for social contribution.

Overview : |
- 100 members of JCI Sapporo took a lecture about developing true
global human resources program recommended by JCI Japan and learned the
difference of own culture to other countries’ culture at the monthly
meeting in March.
- 100 members of JCI Sapporo took an examination of Sapporo city
guide hosted by Sapporo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and learned
the history and culture of their own hometown Sapporo at the monthly
meeting in March.
- JCI Sapporo gave an orientation seminar of developing global
human resources to 10 students of Sapporo residence, and explained the
essential elements of global human resources: “comprehension of the world, Japan, Sapporo and communication skill”.
- JCI Sapporo held the program of developing global human resources in Thailand for 10 residential students of Sapporo to master the essential elements for developing global human resources “comprehension of the world, Japan, Sapporo and communication skill” which is difficult to learn in own country.
- JCI Sapporo made 10 participated students in the program recognized their change of self-consciousness before and after the program of developing global human resources at the after program seminar.

Part 1. Discussion on international cooperation at UN MDGs
Part 2. Lecture given by Ms. Kayoko Ikeda on present condition of the
world and Japan, the method of developing global resources and global benefit/ international sense.
Ms. Kayoko Ikeda translated the world famous story “If the world were a village of 100 people”
into Japanese.
Part 3. Presentation given by participants of the developing global
human resource program on the process to become global human resources,
future and the importance of global human resources for becoming
international city “SAPPORO”.

Results : |
- Monthly meeting in March
JCI Sapporo expanded the ability of accepting different culture to know the world by learning difference between own culture and other cultures.
- Developing global human resources program advance seminar
The participants understood meaning and purpose of this program as well
as profoundly comprehended the present condition of the world/Japan,
identity as Japanese, history of Sapporo and climate/character/culture
of the area.
- Developing global human resources program in Thailand
Participants heightened awareness and noticed of great significance for mutual understanding of expressing opinions/accepting diversity as a result of meeting local students in Thailand.
Global human resources developed by deepening mutual understanding and international sense that cannot feel or learn in own country.
- Developing global human resources program following seminar
Compared and examined the students’ answers of questionnaire before and
after of the program showed those students were developed as global
human resources.
- Monthly meeting in August
JCI Sapporo increased awareness of social contribution at UN MDGs.
Setting and presenting their own objectives not only heighten their awareness but also make them take action.
2nd part of the monthly meeting, Ms. Kayoko Ikeda gave a lecture from
the point of global benefit. This lecture delivered the message of
essential element for training global talents to many citizens. Ms.
Kayoko Ikeda translated the well-known story “If the world were a
village of 100 people” into Japanese.
3rd part of the monthly meeting, students gave a presentation on the
result of developing global human resources. Citizens understood the
necessity of the activity and positive change by seeing students with a high level of awareness.
Questionnaire results showed 95% of the participants felt the necessity of development of global human resources to be “International City Sapporo”.
88% of the participants thought that it is important to do international exchange with knowledge of Japan and Sapporo.
81% of the participants want to contribute to international cooperation as a member of global society. |

Recommendations : |
JCI Sapporo encouraged the importance of international cooperation and awareness of social contribution to participants by holding UN MDGs meeting.
JCI Sapporo contributed the participants to understand the possibility of developing global human resources that was shown at the presentation by participated students.
JCI Sapporo defined the essential elements of developing global human
resources by learning cultural difference between own country and others
at the monthly meeting in March.
Some members of JCI Sapporo took 10 students who live in Sapporo to
Thailand. They developed the ability to think globally and deepened
mutual understanding by communicating with foreigners in Thailand.
